Appearance: A mild-tempered Libyan by way of Egypt, Hassan dresses as the journalists do--that is, khaki pants, linen button-downs and running sneakers or sometimes desert boots. In his attire he tries to separate himself from the piecemeal militias that inhabit the Libyan desert. It's safer for everyone that way, he garners. 

Political Slant: Spending time in Cairo has taught Hassan the leisures of Western culture. Before crossing into Libya to help the rebel plight, Hassan was a tour guide in Giza, near the Pyramids. He drinks alcohol occasionally and considers himself a progressive Sunni Muslim.
